Bernadine Evaristo

Mark your calendars:

An Audience with Bernardine Evaristo

Award-winning poet and novelist Bernardine Evaristo will be in conversation with Professor Robert Hampson

Bernardine Evaristo will read from her first fully-prose novel Blonde Roots published by Penguin. It’s a slavery story with a difference: Africans enslave Europeans over a four hundred year period. The protagonist is a white woman from Europa who lives out her adult life as a slave in the New World.  Bernardine has been hailed as one of Britain’s most original writers. Her novels have been described as ‘Funky yarns so tantalising you want to devour them’ (The Guardian) and ‘Glittering fiction whose words leap off the page in life. Brilliant!’ (The Times).
